The village of Magdfeld is located at 1,148 m asl in Val Passiria, above the village of Fontane. This idyllic mountain village seems to guard the Val Passiria and Kalmtal from above.
The Alta Via Meranese high path stretches past this village and for this reason also Magdfeld, as well as some more villages belonging to Rifiano, is a perfect starting point for walks and tours in the surroundings. The hiking area of the Gruppo di Tessa nature park is varied and provides tours in every level of difficulty. Popular tours are the walk to the Fagla alpine pasture and to the homonymous lake (2,100 m) or to the Falser Kaser and the Passo di Valmara (2,590 m), well-frequented in summertime.
