When the leaves change their colour from green to shades of gold and amber, the chestnuts are ready. In San Genesio close to Bolzano, farmers used to gather chestnuts as a food source for the winter months. Nowadays they gather them so their guests can enjoy „Törggelen“. Once a year, there is a so-called „Chestnut Week“ in local hotels and restaurants, where culinary delicacies are served
