Many places can hide sparkling treasures in the eastern Alps at altitudes up to 2500m and higher. These treasures are minerals and rocks found around San Giovanni in the Val Aurina Valley and have fascinated the Kirchler family for decades. The family’s passion for collecting has resulted in a private museum, now home to natural treasures that are millions of years old. These small, sparkling wonders, shaped and formed by the environment, were once hidden in the darkness. Almost one thousand exhibits are in the museum and hundreds more in the back room where Artur and his nephew Robin spend their time washing, polishing and refining, adding to the ever-growing collection. Welcome to the Mineral Museum in the Val Aurina Valley!
