Flaines is located only a stone’s throw from the station of Vipiteno at 1,030 m asl and is a hamlet, not a component locality of the municipality

Together with Tulves and Caminata, Flaines is one of the most ancient villages belonging to the component locality of Val di Vizze. Already around 600 A.D. this area is considered to have been settled.
Embedded in exposed slopes of scenic significance, Flaines is located at an elevation in the north-east of the train station of Vipiteno, which by the way also belongs to the municipal territory of Val di Vizze. Some 170 inhabitants are living in this village, characteristic for Flaines is its exposed parish church.
Our tip: via Flaines and Smudres you can reach the starting point for the walk to the Prantner alpine pasture (1,800 m asl). In winter there is a toboggan run from the mountain hut to the starting point. By the way, from the terrace of the Prantneralm you can enjoy a fabulous view on Vipiteno and the Stubai Alps. Also worthwhile is a tour to the Rifugio Gallina.
