Maranza is located at a panoramic terrace high above the Valle Isarco at 1,414 m and has got some 450 inhabitants. Worth a visit is the San Giacomo and the Three Virgins' parish church, a late-Gothic building with Gothic steeple. Maranza casts a spell over its visitors in all seasons, not only due to the shapely local mountain of Maranza, the Gitschberg, which is a popular hiking area in summer.
Also the miniature golf course and the tennis hall of Maranza make your holidays varied. A worthwhile destination for hiking is the idyllic Valle d'Altafossa, an idyllic alpine valley with Kneipp facility and mountain huts ideal for a stop such as the Rif. Großberg and Wieserhuette mountain hut, offering much space to play for kids. From this valley you can start your hike to the lakes of Campolago.
In winter the Gitschberg Jochtal skiing area with its 55 km of well-groomed ski slopes and its 360° viewing platform are the main attractions. Ski slopes for the little ones with magic carpet and ski kindergarden can be found in the village centre. And how to conclude a great winter day? Have a drink in one of the après ski bars of Maranza, such as the Igloo or Schupfe.
Our tip: after a day on the slopes, sit back and relax in the Alpinpool of Maranza, offering a pool and sauna facilities.
