The Valgiovo connects the city of Vipiteno to the Val Passiria and is the most tranquil of the three valleys belonging to Racines

The 35 km long Valgiovo takes its course from Casateia and stretches to the Passo del Giovo (2,094 m), which is the northernmost inner-Italian pass, connecting Racines to the Val Passiria. This valley has got some 440 inhabitants and comprises the localities Casalupa, Val di Mezzo, Sant’Antonio and Caspineto.
Via the trail number 12, hikers reach the famous Jaufenhaus mountain hut (1,887 m), enthroned by the Monte Giovo and the Saxner mountain. In fact, there are plenty of hiking destinations, such as the alpine pastures Rinneralm, Saxnerhuette and Kalcheralm.
In winter the Racines-Giovo skiing area makes your winter dreams come true, as it offers 25 km of great slopes for all your family.
