At the Isarco riverbank, about 3 km in the north-west of Fortezza, there is the village of Mezzaselva, located at 800 m asl. Once upon a time Mezzaselva was an in dependent municipality, in 1940 it was connected to the newly founded municipality of Fortezza.
The parish church of Mezzaselva is dedicated to S. Martino di Tours and was first mentioned in 1345. The pictures on the altar are pieces of arts by Josef Renzler.
Walking and hiking are some of the most important activities. Starting from the village you can reach the Mezzaselva alpine pasture as well as the Taleralm and the Flaggeralm pastures. Moreover the cycling train Bressanone-Vipiteno takes past Mezzaselva, so you can visit Vipiteno also by bike.
