The remote mountain village of Eores, near the Passo di Eores and the Passo delle Erbe in the South Tyrolean Dolomites
Just a few kilometres from the Cathedral and the arcades lies Eores, one of the most remote districts of Bressanone. Nestled on the slopes of the Colle Libero hill, town life feels a world away, making it a haven for nature lovers. The village comprises the hamlets of San Giacomo, Plancios, and Eores di Dentro and lends its name to the mountains rising above the Eores Valley.
These Odle di Eores belong to the renowned Odle Group, which dominates the landscape between the Val Gardena and the Val di Funes valleys, giving both their distinctive silhouette. Eores has two churches: St. George's Church in the main village and St. James's Church in San Giacomo.
Around the Church of St. George lies the small village centre with a kindergarten, a few farms, shops, and accommodations. Following the road further uphill, you reach the highest point at the Passo delle Erbe at almost 2,000 metres above sea level, and the Eores Pass, also known as Passo Rodella. From there, the road descends into the Ladin-speaking Badia Valley or the Luson Valley.
The area is ideal for excursions into nature. Hikes lead to Colle Libero Pilgrimage Chapel, dedicated to Mary Help of Christians, or along the Eores Panoramic Trail to Eores di Dentro, against the impressive backdrop of the Putia Group and the rugged Odle di Eores. In winter, the Valazza Lift provides direct access to the Plose Skiing Area with its 9-kilometre-long Trametsch, the longest downhill run in South Tyrol, and one of the longest toboggan runs in the region.
