Moncucco (Giggelberg) refers to the slopes on the Tribulaun Group north of Colle Isarco and the scattered farmhouses there. This dispersed settlement, comprising just a few buildings, is the smallest hamlet in the municipality of Brennero. The Rio di Cuna stream divides the settlement into Moncucco di Fuori and Moncucco di Dentro, that's to say into Outer and Inner Moncucco.

Hikes begin right from your doorstep. You can reach the hamlet from Colle Isarco in an hour. From there, the trail continues to the Passo della Rena, the crossing into the Obernberg Valley in Austria. The area around the ridge is not only appealing for hikers but also historically significant: Numerous remnants of the Alpine Wall, a defensive structure built by fascist Italy, are located here.

The Great Border Ridge Route also brings hikers and mountain bikers to this area. This classic route, part of several transalpine tours, showcases the historical sites of the "Vallo Alpino Littorio" and the majestic peaks of the Tribulaun Group. Down in the valley runs the Upper Valle Isarco Cycle Path, which takes you further on towards Vipiteno, Chiusa, and Bressanone.

Thanks to South Tyrol's well-developed network of cycle paths, you can then choose to head south towards Lake Caldaro, east towards the green Val Pusteria, or west towards the Merano region. In winter, the Upper Valle Isarco attracts visitors with its three ski resorts: Ladurns, Racines-Giovo, and Monte Cavallo near Vipiteno, all accessible with the joint Wipptal ski pass.
