The Valle Aurina Sun Trail - walkable in both directions - leads through the beautiful nature between San Pietro and Lutago

The round trip through the wide municipality of Valle Aurina with its beautiful farmhouses and lush green meadows ends in the last little village, San Pietro. From here it is only a few kilometres to the head of the valley in Casere, where the road ends at the information point of the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Nature Park. The old farms on the slopes seem to look down on the parish church, which is dedicated to the apostles Peter and Paul. One of these farms is the Duregghof, probably once the seat of the nobles of Eurn (Ahrn - Aurina), who gave their name to the Valle Aurina.
Here in San Pietro (St. Peter) the Valle Aurina Sun Paths, called "Sunnsat" (sunny side), end. They are old smuggling routes that used to serve the exchange of trade with neighbouring valleys - all on foot and with backpacks, of course. Afterwards, the trails were integrated into a network of paths that today show you the beauty of the Valle Aurina on the sunny side of the Zillertal Alps. They lead past snack stations and alpine pastures, past alpine roses in June and colourful deciduous trees in October, when sometimes the first snowflakes are already falling on San Pietro.
From the "Peterer Kofl", the church hill, another ancient trail leads across the Passo del Cane into the Austrian Zillertal valley. Horse-drawn carriage and sleigh rides are also offered in the village, and the Klausberg Ski Arena awaits you with a splendid winter sports offer. South Tyrol's ski areas not only combine countless slopes, but also offer winter sports opportunities for every active holidaymaker with toboggan runs and cross-country ski tracks.
