Campo Tures village has the flair of a small town in the mountains. The centre stretches to the left and right of the road and enchants with cafés and ice cream parlours, family-owned shops and historic residences: One of them is Neumelans Castle on the edge of Campo Tures village (Sand in Taufers Dorf), a building from the 16th century that is one of the most beautiful residences in the country. The Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Visitor Centre is located in the central Townhall Square.
During a walk through the village or along the Aurino River, you will see the mighty complex of Tures Castle enthroned on a rock from several points. Its history dates back to the 13th century and can be explored in the castle. The structure places great emphasis on its young visitors with a special children's programme and events such as the witching hour at the castle. Another museum is the Tures Parish Museum with its treasures, centrally located in an old granary near the church.
If you want to combine a visit to the castle with some exercise, we recommend the Tures Nature Path: It takes you past Tures Castle. Another beautiful hike starts at the edge of the village, the St. Francis' Path, which leads to the famous Riva Waterfalls. In winter, the Speikboden Skiing Area can be reached in a few minutes by car or public bus, which also offers two sledge runs.
