The marble village offers recreation in the midst of an enchanting natural landscape, characterised by apple trees and fruit groves

The main village of Lasa focuses on slow movement: Here, the paths start directly in the village centre and lead to the surrounding alpine pastures and along the course of the Adige River to enchanting natural spots without breathtaking highlights. Therefore, they are all the more relaxing and can be enjoyed in a unique tranquillity. The view on the marble quarries usually accompanies the excursions on foot or by bike. If you would like to be accompanied, you can take part in a guided tour or marble walk, which "Marmorplus" offers in the warmer months.
A walk through the village should also be planned. You will be rewarded with a village square paved with marble blocks, small shops, cosy cafés and narrow alleys. The parish church dates back to the 12th century and is dedicated to St. John the Baptist. Its special feature is the apse, which was made entirely of brilliant white marble from Lasa. Today it is no longer brilliant white, but those who know this detail can take a closer look at its half-columns, eagle and leaf capitals. A hike to St. Sisinius is also worthwhile: The small chapel is one of the oldest churches in the Val Venosta.
Apples and apricots grow all around the village, and the fruits appreciate the mild and dry climate. This is celebrated in midsummer: Then the festival "Marble and Apricots in Lasa" takes place, which combines the best from the kitchen with high quality art. The open-air pool, the Val Venosta Riding & Driving Club and the Lasa Mountains, which can be climbed by those free from giddiness, offer variety. Some take advantage of the offer and return to the valley by paraglider.
