Laces village, the lively main village of the municipality, stretches between the Monte Sole and the shadier Monte Tramontana. Orchards surround the small centre in the Val Venosta, architectural and cultural sights enrich it. Especially if you love castles and palaces, you will find what you are looking for here: The Montani di Sopra and Montani di Sotto Castles greet you from Morter, Coldrano Castle from the other side of the Adige, Monte Sant'Anna Castle towers over the hamlet of Tiss, and Laces Castle, once surrounded by a moat, is located directly in the centre of the village.
Between all the shopping and refreshment options in Laces village (Latsch Dorf), there is also the Holy Spirit Church with its winged altar by Jörg Lederer and the Parish Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. The Our Lady on the Hill Church is located just outside the village: The Menhir of Laces, a marble column from the period between 3,300 and 2,200 BC, was found there.
Laces village is a good starting point for tours at any time of the year: along the Latschanderwaal Waalweg path to Ciardes and on the Val Venosta High Route along the Monte Sole, the Sun Mountain in this part of South Tyrol. From the edge of the holiday village, the cable car also takes you to the pilgrimage site of San Martino al Monte high above the valley basin. Three sports facilities offer variety: the SportForum with tennis and athletics, the AquaForum with its indoor swimming pool and the IceForum for winter sports. In the neighbouring Val Martello valley, on the other hand, cross-country skiing is a priority, and there is a well-known Nordic ski centre.
