The “Via Vinum Venostis” wine path shows you the landscape between Juval and Laces at the entrance to the Stelvio National Park
Laces is the gate to the Val Martello and the Stelvio National Park. Here, the Plima Stream, which rises in the alpine heights on the Passo Stelvio, and the Tis Stream from the Monte Sole in the Val Venosta, the Sun Mountain, enter the Adige River and continue into the Adriatic Sea. Parts of Laces are already national park territory: In the valley floor the three districts of Laces village, Coldrano and Tarres are located. Then the municipality on the Monte Sole stretches up to the pilgrimage site of San Martino al Monte. On the other side it extends via Morter into the Martello Valley until the glaciated Mt. Orecchia di Lepre at the watershed of the Venosta and Ultimo Valleys.
All this gives the municipality a colourful picture of different climatic zones and landscapes. The lovely fruit orchards down in the valley, the rocks and eternal glaciers as well as the characteristic villages, the precious churches, castles and ruins - this is what makes Laces an attracting holiday destination. There are countless opportunities to spend your free time actively in the great outdoors, from the equestrian farm in Tarres to the AquaForum Laces leisure pool and one of the bike parks in South Tyrol with its range of trails in the Stelvio National Park.
On foot, the "Via Vinum Venostis" wine path leads you along the old irrigation channels, the so-called Waale. On hikes with backpack and picnic, however, you can discover the surrounding alpine pastures, and the bike takes you on the Val Venosta Cycle Path along the Adige River to Merano. The colourful trains of the Val Venosta Railway bring you back again: Laces has its own train station. Winter sports are also not missed either, thanks to the Gumpfrei sledge run at the Malga di Tarres valley station and the ski slopes in the Val Martello and on the Senales Glacier.
