From Castelbello you can reach Lacinigo on foot, the small village in the Val Venosta valley surrounded by apple and apricot trees

South of Castelbello, on the other side of the Adige River, a few buildings are situated in the middle of the cultivated areas of the Lower Val Venosta: The apricots of the Val Venosta, apples and kiwis grow here. If you look at the area from above, the orchards draw a large chequered pattern on the valley floor up to the slopes of the Monte Sole, the Montefranco and Monte Tramontana.
Lacinigo (Latschinig) can be reached on foot or by bicycle from Castelbello and is itself an ideal starting point for tours in the valley bottom or on the slopes of the Montefranco. Between the houses there are already the first hiking signs pointing the way to the sports fields of Castelbello, to the popular Marzon Mountain Hut and to the "Alte Säge" (Old Saw), as the hikers' car park is called here. It is the old saw of Montefranco that gave the car park its name.
We recommend the Limekiln Path, a two-hour hike that is suitable at any time of year. It shows you this part of the Val Venosta valley and leads from Lacinigo past the Old Church in Maragno. The circular hike continues up to the Lacinigo and Montefranco Mountain Huts, two beautiful places surrounded by the cultivated landscape and the mountains of the Lower Val Venosta.
