The Valle di Anterselva rises steadily in altitude from one village to the next until its lake at the end of the valley, which can already be called a mountain lake. The largest village, Anterselva di Mezzo or Antholz Mittertal, lies in the heart of the valley: The clear mountain air here lets you sleep well in summer. The houses are scattered between Costa del Colle, Siesl and the Anterselva Brook. In the village centre there are facilities such as the carabinieri station, shops, a bank and cafés. The cultural attraction is the St. George Church with its stave barrel vault and the Holy Sepulchre.
The Valle di Anterselva Cycle Route, a branch of the "Pusterbike" cycle path that runs through the entire Val Pusteria, winds past here and on towards the biathlon centre and Lake Anterselva - by MTB you can even climb the Passo Stalle, the crossing into the Defereggen Valley in East Tyrol. To hikers we recommend the wonderful spots around the village such as the Klammbach Waterfall below the Berger Hut, the excursion from the sports zone to the Kumpfl Hut, which is surrounded by the scent of alpine herbs, and the Frenchmen Trail on the sunny side of the valley.
Due to the high altitude, the first snowflakes sometimes fall here already in October. A little later, the Riepen ski lift in Anterselva di Mezzo opens its doors, named after a peak in the Rieserferner Group. The small skiing area with its 1.6 km long slope is the ideal introduction to this winter sport - the Plan de Corones Skiing Area, on the other hand, can be reached by ski bus. If you want to enjoy the winter fairytale land in all silence, the cross-country ski tracks are perfect for this, including the valley track and the 10 km long Biathlon Centre Anterselva cross-country ski track.
