It is on the left bank of the Rienza river and on the northern slopes of the Braies Dolomites, where the few houses of Novale are scattered. The small hamlet is one of three that complement the villages of Monguelfo and Tesido and thus form the municipality of Monguelfo-Tesido: In addition to Novale, there are also the small settlements of Riva di Sotto and of Prati.
Novale is located in the immediate vicinity of the "Pusterbike" cycle track - ideal for a tour with the family. The route leads through the Val Pusteria and is popular for its combination of bike and train, because the colourful trains of the Val Pusteria Railway bring you and your bike comfortably back to the starting point. Those who don't have one can rent one with the bikemobil Card at the bike rental shops that are part of the project: Cycling is the best alternative to the car here.
On foot there are numerous possibilities to explore the surroundings. A walk separates Novale (Ried) from the Valdaora Reservoir on the municipal border of Monguelfo-Tesido, another hiking destination is the Walde Hut in an absolutely quiet and sunny location. Then there is the Novale Circular Trail: It runs via the Lettner, Waldbrunn and Gailerhof Farms all the way to Monguelfo. In winter, the snow-covered Val Pusteria invites you to experience the ski areas Plan de Corones and 3 Zinnen Dolomites, and the cross-country ski tracks and toboggan runs in the Val Pusteria.
