It is exactly four kilometres that separate the main village of the municipality of Marebbe, San Vigilio, and Pieve di Marebbe, and yet they are completely different: While San Vigilio is the chic centre of the Val Badia valley with lifts, restaurants and lots of attractions, Pieve di Marebbe is a place of peace and quiet. The village stretches in a sunny position on the slope, above which the hiking and skiing area of Plan de Corones is enthroned with its two mountain museums.
Pieve di Marebbe (Enneberg Pfarre) is characterised by old farms and a historic village centre. The rectory, the school and the small village church are spread out in the alleys, which have seen a lot and have a lot to tell. It is the oldest parish in the valley: The Church of Saint Mary of Marebbe was mentioned already in the 14th century and as a place of pilgrimage it determined the religious life in the Badia Valley for a long time. The village probably also owes its name to it.
The mountain village is considered the cradle of Ladin culture and a treasure chest for gourmets: Here, agriculture dominates the village, so you can buy products such as mountain cheese, South Tyrolean Speck and honey directly from the farm. All around, hiking paths and MTB trails stretch across the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park, a world of legends of the Dolomites and rustic alpine huts offering refreshments. And if the desire for skiing, shopping or culture is too strong, then it is a short drive to the above mentioned main village of San Vigilio di Marebbe or to the town of Brunico in the Val Pusteria: The public bus runs between the villages, mostly every hour.
