The village - Zwischenwasser in German, “between the waters” - is located in the place where the Gadera and the Rio San Vigilio join

Longega, which belongs to the municipal area of Marebbe, is the first village in the valley on the way from the Val Pusteria valley to the Alta Badia, and stretches out after the last tunnel of the now well-constructed road. Its German name, Zwischenwasser, means "between the waters". No special attractions await you here, but the typical homely mountain atmosphere of the South Tyrolean villages, which promise pure relaxation far away from everyday life with their small village centres and the surrounding alpine meadows and mountain peaks.
Longega is overlooked by the peaks of the Dolomites in the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park. It extends from the famous Lake Braies in the Upper Val Pusteria into the Val Badia valley. The nature experience trail "Tru dal'ega" (Water Trail) at the Nature Park Visitor Centre in the neighbouring San Vigilio in Marebbe tells of this protected spot on earth. The road also takes you to San Vigilio and then to Pederü: Shortly before the end of the valley, a sign on the right shows you the way to one of South Tyrol's climbing gardens with 14 routes of various degrees of difficulty.
There are numerous excursion destinations in the surrounding area, from the Passo delle Erbe, where hikers and motorcyclists cavort in summer and even the witches on one night in July, and the Ciastel de Tor, the Museum Ladin near San Martino in Badia, to the famous Plan de Corones Skiing Area, the largest one of the region, where perfectly groomed slopes open in winter.
