Falzes is known for its sunny, panoramic location on the south side of the Alps: You reach the municipality from Chienes via a mountain road or via the state road at Stegona, and then you find yourself on a high plateau above the valley basin. Summer retreats and winter hiking, the finest culinary delights and beach feeling, adventure and mountain idyll are harmoniously combined here. Moreover, Falzes is located in the Dolomites Region Plan de Corones, near the ski mountain that dominates the active offer in winter in this part of the Val Pusteria valley.
The municipal area stretches from Grimaldo, situated in the forests above San Giorgio, to the main village of Falzes, which enjoys a sunny position and is protected from the north winds. The village of Issengo with its family destinations and the hamlets of Molini and Plata on the slopes above Falzes are also part of the area. The Val Pusteria low mountain range with Monte Sommo, Cima Plata and Cima di Pozzo is a great hiking destination. The themed trail "The rocks tell a tale" leads through the natural and cultural landscape of Falzes, as well as the LandArt Trail near the main village.
However, one of the most famous destinations in Falzes is the Issengo Pond in the eponymous village, a moor and bathing pond with a wide range of facilities that opens in the summer months. Adjacent, the high rope course of the Kronaction Outdoor and Fun Park takes you through the treetops - an active day for the adults and an adventure day for the children, which lets them fall tired into bed in the evening. For those interested in culture and gourmets, Falzes offers the herb garden of the Bergila mountain pine oil distillery and Schöneck Castle, the presumed birthplace of the minnesinger Oswald von Wolkenstein. Schöneck is also the name of the top address for gourmets right next to the ruin, awarded three Gault Millau toques and one Michelin star.
