Dobbiaco village

From above, the village looks like something out of a picture book, protected by the mighty peaks of the Sesto and Braies Dolomites

Dobbiaco village (Toblach Dorf) is made up of an old and a new part and is the main village of the municipality. "Here it is wonderful-glorious and certainly repairs body and soul..." already knew Gustav Mahler more than a century ago. The green roof of the Parish Church of St. John the Baptist peeks out from between the houses, not far away towers Dobbiaco Castle. Below the field on the Val Pusteria Road, Dobbiaco Nuova (the new part) and the famous Grand Hotel are located.

This Grand Hotel, formerly a luxury hotel and today an important cultural centre, is home to numerous events as well as the Three Peaks Visitor Centre. Behind the building, the forest begins with the Dobbiaco Wood Wonder World, a nature playground for children, and next to it is the railway station, a hub for anyone who wants to spend a few days without the car. Cyclists unload their bikes here, which they bring back on the colourful trains of the Val Pusteria Railway, and the shuttle services also start here to start the Three Peaks Circuit in a very relaxed way.

For active leisure activities Dobbiaco has more to offer: Bouldering in the Nordic Arena, climbing at Lake Landro, an adventure day in the high-ropes course or circling Lake Dobbiaco are some of the highlights that are welcome on every long weekend. Swans cavort on the water, laughter can be heard from the pedal boats and the lake glistens in the sun - this is how you live summer in Dobbiaco. Also for winter, when the cross-country ski tracks around the Nordic Arena and the slopes at the Rienza Ski Centre open, we have something very special: a view on the valley from a hot-air balloon. The Dolomiti Balloon Festival offers the opportunity every January.
