Corti (Hofern) lies above the valley basin on the Val Pusteria Sun Road. The small village awaits you 400 m higher than the main village of Chienes at the foot of the Val Pusteria low mountain range. Interesting spots stretch from the village centre with its centrally located hotel and the small new buildings to the parish church of St. Martin in Corti on a small elevation in the middle of the greenery. A beautiful autumn hike leads from Chienes village up here to the little church.
A little further up, where the air becomes even clearer and the sky seems ever closer, is the Moarhof Mountain Hut. From the Gelenke car park it is a comfortable hour's walk to the mountain inn, where you can enjoy the view on the Sesto and Braies Dolomites and some culinary delights on fine days. If you want to hike further, you can follow the Marmot Trail to the tranquil Rio Verde Lake at an altitude of more than 2,260 m a.s.l. In winter, the alp becomes the ideal starting point for snowshoe hikes, ski tours or for a sledge ride downhill, as sledges can be rented here.
East of Corti rises Schöneck Castle, which was restored only a few years ago. It is considered the birthplace of the minnesinger Oswald von Wolkenstein. The remains of the Pacherhof farm, where the painter and sculptor Michael Pacher saw the light of day in the 15th century, are also believed to be nearby: One of his wonderful frescoes can be found in the castle chapel.
