The village is surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Dolomites.

Right next to it begins the Anna Valley, a cosy excursion destination with a playground and a Kneipp facility. By the way: In the history of Ortisei there were and are some famous citizens, among them the legendary alpinist Luis Trenker, the music producer Giorgio Moroder, and the winter sportswomen Carolina and Isolde Kostner.

Its thematic areas include old wooden toys, unique items and painting from the valley. The latter is also the focus of attention every year in late summer, when Ortisei becomes the centre of Val Gardena's sculptors, photographers, painters and woodturners: Then the Unika Art Fair takes place in Roncadizza.
