Like the entire area around the Passo Palade in the Alta Val di Non, San Felice (St. Felix) is also accompanied by a centuries-old history. It is now the administrative seat of the municipality of Senale-San Felice and therefore houses in its village centre the town hall, a primary and secondary school, an inn with grocery shop, and the St. Felix of Nola Church, the patron saint of domestic animals. There is also another chapel and popular hiking destination near San Felice, which is dedicated to St. Christopher: Magnificent frescoes adorn the building.
San Felice is situated along an old pass path on a sunny plateau, surrounded by other trails. They lead you through magnificent larch forests to Lake Tret above the village, Felixer Weiher in German (named after the village), or as a MTB tour to Mt. Mendola, the Palade Pass and Mt. Macaion. The mentioned lake invites you to jump into its water in summer - into the cool water, it must be added, because the altitude of about 1,600 m already makes Lake Tret a mountain lake. The meadows at the biotope are a nice picnic spot and a destination for geocachers.
If you don't want to hike up, you can also hike down: Around San Felice there are deep gorges and caves between steeply sloping limestone walls. One of them is accessible: the Rio Novella Gorge, also known among kayakers. Once down, you'll see the 75-metre-high San Felice Waterfall, or Bus del Pis Waterfall, cascading down. The surrounding mountain huts then invite you to a "Marende", a traditional afternoon snack with speck, or to "gsottene Erdäpfl" (boiled potatoes). In winter, there is a toboggan run at the San Felice Mountain Hut which follows the path to Lake Tret.
