The rear part of the Val d'Ega can be reached by two roads that divide in the middle of the valley: One leads to Nova Ponente with Obereggen, while the eastern one leads to Nova Levante and on to the famous Lake Carezza and the Costalunga Pass, the crossing into the Val di Fassa valley in Trentino. The municipal area includes Nova Levante village - a settlement along the Val d'Ega road - and Carezza village on the pass.
On the winding mountain road between these two districts lies idyllically Lake Carezza, a true natural jewel. The water shimmers emerald green in the sunlight, reflecting the peaks of Mt. Catinaccio and Mt. Latemar. The area around the lake extends further across the alpine meadows and high forests to the imposing Catinaccio and Latemar Massifs. The various legends in this area tell of King Laurin and of a water fairy.
During the Christmas season, Lake Carezza is transformed into a winter wonderland with small wooden stalls and hot drinks in front of a magical backdrop. 2 km above, at the Costalunga Pass, the lifts start to the Ski Area Carezza Dolomites, in case you spend your winter holiday in Nova Levante. In addition to the slopes of all levels of difficulty and the Carezza Snow Park on Mt. Catinaccio, there is also the Hubertus sledge run, which takes you from the mountain station to the valley station. The trails on the Costalunga Pass, on the other hand, lead to the Angerle Mountain Hut and the Duca di Pistoia Hut, or Tscheinerhütte in German.
