Driving from Bolzano towards Merano, you immediately reach the little village of Settequerce. Located at 264 m a.s.l., it extends along the South Tyrolean Wine Route and is surrounded by apple orchards and vineyards.
What you should not miss is a visit to the Sacro Cuore Parish Church as well as the Deutschhaus S. Antonio di Padova church. A wayside shrine, located in the middle of the forest above the village, reminds on the presumed apparition of the Blessed Mother on September 27, 1992.
Cyclists love to experience the landscape along the Bolzano-Merano cycling trail, stretching in a landscape of orchards. To those who love hiking, however, we recommend a walk to Greifenstein Castle, rising high above Settequerce. Constructed in the 12th century, the castle ruin today bears the name “Sauschloss”, which literally translated means “pork castle”, as according to a legend a pork was thrown out of the castle.
