San Giuseppe al Lago is Caldaro’s lakeside hub for watersports and relaxation

The scattered hamlets and wineries on the western shore of Lake Caldaro make up the district of San Giuseppe al Lago (St. Josef am See). Dotting the landscape among them are several stately homes and castles: Manincor, Ringberg, Greifenburg, and Kaltenburg, the latter specialized in schnapps and liquor - all nestled amidst vineyards and dating back to the 17th century.
Today, their names are synonymous with fine wines and sophisticated cuisine. Just off the Wine Road towards Termeno rises the small Church of St. Joseph. At 215 metres above sea level, San Giuseppe is the lowest point in the municipality of Caldaro and THE summer hotspot for water sports enthusiasts. It's here that the Lake Caldaro Triathlon and the Caldaro Lake Run take place.
Not only professional athletes, but anyone who enjoys surfing, sailing, or swimming, comes here to relax at one of the three lidos. The Lido Seegarten, the Gretl am See bathing establishment with South Tyrol's only windsurfing school and shop, and the Lake Caldaro Lido, an outdoor pool with both swimming pools and lake access, offer something for everyone.
The Ora, the southerly wind from Lake Garda, also blows here, reaching Caldaro and the South Tyrolean Wine Road in summer. It creates ideal conditions for sailors and windsurfers.
