The water masses of the Parcines Waterfall cascade more than 97 metres over a free-standing cliff down into the depth
The mountain hamlets of Tablà (Tabland) and Monte Sole (Sonnenberg) are part of the municipality of Parcines and are located high above the Adige Valley in the midst of a magnificent natural landscape. In addition to a breathtaking view, numerous easy and more challenging hikes start here into a unique mountain world. Tablà has its own church dedicated to St. Nicholas of Myra, a multi-purpose hall and a primary school. In 1899, during a procession, there was a village fire that destroyed most of the houses. In the following years, the village was rebuilt.
Tablà lies at the exit of the Valle Casaletta, also known as Schleidertal. In another valley, the Zieltal or Valle di Tel just nearby, is the famous Parcines Waterfall, one of the most impressive in the Alps. This valley is also an interesting place in September, when more than 1,000 sheep are expected at the Nasereit Mountain Hut, which are then herded to their home stables. A few weeks later, in October and November, Parcines and its villages become the destination of Toerggele hikes with a stop at a traditional wine tavern or farm inn, where hearty South Tyrolean dishes, roasted chestnuts with melted butter, sweet Krapfen and the new wine are served.
Tablà is located on the slopes of the Monte Sole, which is known for its barrenness and steppe vegetation. This makes it a hot place in summer and a mild winter mountain. Along the Monte Sole, literally the Sun Mountain, there is a network of irrigation channels that reach all the way into the Upper Val Venosta. Hiking paths that were once used for maintenance follow these historic irrigation channels. The well-known Parcines Waalweg path runs from the main village of Parcines to the Parcines Waterfall near Tablà, a one-hour hike to fascinating places.
