Above Parcines and the Parcines Waterfall rises the impressive Tessa Group with the Merano High Route
On the way to the Val Venosta, where the valley narrows after Merano and a hydroelectric power station can be seen along the road, you have reached Tel. This is where Parcines begins, the western gateway to the Merano region. Above it towers the mighty Texel Group, part of the Oetztal Alps, which is protected in the Gruppo di Tessa Nature Park. The Merano High Route, a multi-day hike, runs through this alpine landscape, whose three-thousand-metre peaks guard the rough Zieltal. Parcines village, Rablà, and the hamlets of Tablà and Vallettina are also located on this side of the valley.
Parcines then crosses the Adige River and continues on the other bank to the hamlet of Quadrato with its centuries-old farms on the Monte Tramontana. Further up, at the Monte San Vigilio, the municipality ends. This varied landscape between mountain and valley makes Parcines a popular flying destination: Paragliders can be seen in the sky, while cyclists and walkers explore the landscape between blossoming apple orchards and colourful autumn forests. One of the most popular destinations is the Parcines Waterfall in the Zieltal or Valle di Tel, one of the most impressive waterfalls in the Alpine region. Families visit the outdoor pool in Parcines and climbers the Burgstallknott rockface. Further up, you can experience the Gruppo di Tessa Nature Park and the barren Monte Sole in the Val Venosta.
The three museums that Parcines has to offer are unique and highly recommended, including the Peter Mitterhofer Typewriter Museum, named after the municipality's most famous inhabitant. Peter Mitterhofer built the first typewriters in the 19th century and presented them at the Imperial Court in Vienna. The museum has collected more than 2,000 exhibits until today. Equally interesting are the Rablà Train World with its detailed miniatures and the Royal and Imperial Museum Bad Egart in Tel, where you can also enjoy delicious cuisine.
