The sunny Naturno, the gateway to the Merano region, is famous for its little St. Proculus Church with its valuable frescoes
As soon as the Val Venosta reaches its lowest part, the landscape near Naturno changes to the mild spa climate of the Merano region. Here Juval Castle watches over the area and here the Val Senales valley branches off to the mighty glacier at its end, at the heights of which Oetzi was found. The municipality stretches between vineyards and orchards from its main village of Naturno to Stava below Juval Castle, and then to Tablà and Cirlano on the other side of the Adige.
In Naturno, active and pleasure-seeking holidaymakers walk in the footsteps of a long history: Flint grit tell of the Mesolithic period and the famous St. Proculus Church of wonderful paintings dating back to the 14th century. Above it stretches the Gruppo di Tessa Nature Park between the Val Senales and Val Passiria and the main ridge of the Alps. The numerous hiking opportunities continue on the other side of the valley on the Monte Tramontana. Down in the valley basin, on the other hand, the Val Venosta Cycle Path leads to the spa town of Merano and then continues as the Adige Cycle Path to the provincial capital of Bolzano.
The Cirlano and Stava Waalweg paths are suitable for leisurely walks along the old irrigation channels, while families can discover the "Hinzl" Theme Trail. The Monte Sole near Naturno has subtropical vegetation, so even at an altitude of 900 metres the well-known Riesling thrives, from whose grapes a white wine is made. It is perfect to drink a toast to a successful holiday after a day of hiking or excursions. Equally relaxing is a visit to the Naturno Adventure Thermal Baths.
