Riomolino (Mühlbach) is the new centre of the municipality of Lagundo and the seat of the town hall. The village here on the left bank of the Adige has grown a lot in recent years and has spread further and further towards Merano, so that on the outskirts of the village there are now the large facilities of the Fruit Cooperative Burgraviato and the ALGO shopping centre with cinema and restaurants, before - a few buildings further on - the spa town of Merano follows with its hospital.
Lagundo welcomes you in a special way: At the exit of the MeBo motorway is the art project "SteinZeit" (StoneAge), a stone sun made of 80 stone boulders, installed to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of Lagundo. Once in the centre, the church tower cannot be missed: It points like a needle towards the sky and is an often-mentioned example of contemporary architecture. The associated new parish church is dedicated to St. Joseph. The construction of the Maria Steinach Monastery at the western entrance of the village dates back much further. Eight centuries have passed since then, but the monastery is still inhabited and run by the Dominican nuns.
Riomolino is an active village that likes to celebrate. At any time of the year, cyclists and hikers can be seen exploring the Waalwege paths and the Val Venosta Cycle Path. In summer, the Lagundo Lido is a popular meeting place, the first open-air pool in South Tyrol with salt water. From the Garden Flair and the Lagundo Wine Tasting in spring to the Christmas Market, there is always something going on here: The nearby festival square is also popular for live concerts.
