Signat (Signato) is a small hamlet at the foot of the Renon, ideally located for enjoying both the apple blossom and the vibrant autumn colours along the "Keschtnweg" Chestnut Trail. Signato is known for its cosy farm parlours in the traditional "Buschenschänke" taverns, inviting you to enjoy convivial evenings with delicious South Tyrolean cuisine. The journey home in the evening is particularly beautiful, when the Sciliar and Catinaccio shine in the reddish alpenglow.
In the hamlet itself, you'll find several farmsteads, such as the Wiedenhofer Farm, the Rothensteiner Farm, and the Weber Farm, clustered around the Signater Hof inn. In the centre are the small St. Martin's Church and a car park that serves as a starting point for hikes.
A popular choice is the hike on the Signato Path to Soprabolzano, which brings you closer to the high plateau. Along the way, you can also marvel at the bizarre Earth Pyramids.
In the opposite direction, the new "Rebe" Wine Trail leads down from Signato to Rencio in Bolzano in one hour. Numerous vineyards dot this area. Did you know that Renon, with 132 hectares of vineyards, is one of the largest wine-growing municipalities in South Tyrol? The descent follows a "wine staircase" featuring artistic installations on the theme of viticulture.
