On the way from the Val Venosta into the world of King Ortles, you will find the districts of Ponte Stelvio and Stelvio Masi

Stelvio village is built against the hillside: The houses below it and the farms above it are two separate districts called Ponte di Stelvio (Stilfser Brücke, literally: Stelvio Bridge) and Stelvio Masi (Stilfs Höfe, literally: Stelvio Farms). The few houses of Ponte Stelvio stand along the road on the valley floor where the Rio Solda flows past. One of them is the Ponte di Stelvio Power Station, which went into operation in 1930 and today, together with the one at the Rio Trafoi, supplies the villages of Stelvio and Gomagoi with electricity. It can also be found in the list of the Tecneum South Tyrol project, a virtual museum for technical cultural assets.
The old farms of Stelvio Masi above it have names like Fragges, Faslar, Gawierg, Valatsches and Platz, and are located on the Farm Path. This is the name of the first stage of the Ortles High Route, which stretches from the Stelvio Pass down to Stelvio. Almost 2,000 metres of altitude difference are climbed in one day: The trail takes you past the Stelvio Alpine Pasture and the Valatsches Farms as well as the Faslar Farms. Then it leads down to the village. While Stelvio Masi promises tranquillity and seclusion, Ponte di Stelvio down in the valley is a transit point with its own hiking trail, if you want to discover the area at the entrance to the Solda Valley on foot: It leads as "Kleine Talrunde" (Small Valley Round) along the Agumes irrigation channel to Prato allo Stelvio.
For the return journey, public transport is suitable, so that the two-hour hike on the sunny slopes of Agumes can also be shortened. In winter, on the other hand, you head into the valley to the neighbouring village of Gomagoi, where the road splits and then leads into the Solda Valley with the Solda Skiing Area, or to Trafoi towards the Stelvio Pass. The Trafoi Skiing Area is located there.
