Mini golf, volleyball, sledging, mills, Earth Pyramids - Terento village (Terenten Dorf) is a varied place. It is the main village of the municipality, which extends to the surrounding meadows and then up the slopes of the mountains, where you can still make out some farms below the tree line. The cobbled village centre is tranquil, with cafés and shops spread around the St. George Church. This is followed by the sports zone with its activity options, and then the lower village follows.
However, tranquillity is a thing of the past for a few days when Terento celebrates its festivals. Especially "'s Terner Schmelzpfandl" is a series of events that revives the old traditions and is widely appreciated. As it was once the granary of the Val Pusteria valley, a lot of grain was cultivated here. The grain also had to be ground, and mills were built along the Terento stream. All this is duly celebrated at festivals such as the "Terner Bauernkuchl", the Mill Festival and the celebration of the cattle drive from the alpine pastures. At the Harvest Festival, you can watch how harvesting used to be done. Immersing in the "good old days", which were usually quite hard.
The above-mentioned mills and the Earth Pyramids, which Terento also has to offer its visitors, are linked to recommendable hiking paths in the surrounding area. The hike on the Marmot Trail takes you higher up to the Moarhof Hut and on to Lake Rio Verde. From late autumn onwards, winter fun is the order of the day: Terento village is autonomous in this respect. An ice-skating rink, the panoramic cross-country ski track, its own ski lift and two toboggan runs - one of which is in the village - make the holiday village a winter experience under the sun of the Val Pusteria.
