The small hamlet of Malgasott is a district of the municipality of Senale-San Felice in the Upper Val di Non, exactly between Senale and San Felice. Here you are south of the Passo Palade in the Val di Non valley, in the midst of interesting excursion destinations such as the deep gorges that cross the high plateau and the alpine pastures above the mountain villages.
Malgasott consists of a few farms on the gentle slopes of the Nonsberg Group. From here you can hike towards the Passo Palade, which is a few kilometres away, and then down into the Merano region with Lana. On the other side is San Felice. From there, the route continues to the next villages, which are already in Trentino and also provide beautiful hiking destinations with the Lago Smeraldo for example, the "Emerald Lake" with its gorge.
Mount Luco, just a bit above Malgasott, represents the municipal boundary of Senale-San Felice and is at the same time one of the most beautiful hiking destinations in the Upper Val di Non. The path leads from the Palade Pass to the idyllic Monte Luco Mountain Hut, and on to Lake Monte Luco and the peak of Mt. Luco itself. To the east, the area extends to the forested foothills of the Mendola Ridge, where Lake Tret is located at 1,600 m a.s.l., a biotope and bathing lake. In winter, both routes become beautiful winter hikes in the midst of a deeply snow-covered landscape.
