Vallettina

Discover the Climatotherapy Path and the Parcines Legend Trail above Parcines in the idyllic hamlet of Vallettina

Vallettina is one of the hamlets above the Adige River that belong to Parcines. Only one solitary mountain village on the opposite side of the valley also belongs to this municipality. Vallettina comprises several farms, including those named Niedermair, Obermair, and Fasser. Between Vallettina and Parcines village lies the Burgstallknott, one of the South Tyrolean climbing gardens with panoramic views. Most climbing routes initially ascend and then become vertical.

Health and fitness take centre stage as you follow the Climatotherapy Path. The climatic Terrain Cure is a special form of outdoor exercise therapy, and Parcines boasts several such trails, certified by the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. Trail number 6 leads directly past Vallettina, very close to the Parcines Waalweg path. Another popular hike starting in Vallettina is the Parcines Legend Trail: Follow the symbol of the prehistoric hunter and discover Parcines' pre-Christian settlement and cultural sites with their cup-marked stones, witches' caves, and devil's slabs.

In autumn, the Chestnut Trail in Vallettina (Vertigen) offers a particularly delightful experience: The Parcines Chestnut Trail meanders through vibrant forests and chestnut groves. High above rises the mighty Monte Rosso, the highest peak of the Texel Group.

The nature park of the same name can be circumnavigated on the Merano High Route in several day stages. The Texel Cable Car in Parcines provides access to a small section, with its mountain station situated directly on the Merano High Route.
