The mountain hamlet of Pozza on the Sarentino Valley Trail, with its farms and the Croce di Pozza Chapel

The residents of Pozza wake up every morning at an altitude of 1,500 metres. The mountain hamlet lies on the front slopes of Sarentino. Old mountain farms and a few newer houses characterise the small village on the eastern side of the Monzoccolo. This plateau separates the Adige Valley from the Sarentino Valley, and here it is covered with wide meadows and forests.
On its terraces, you'll find beautiful spots like the Hauserberg Alm, a cosy mountain hut with views of the Dolomites and serving regional cuisine. Below lies the chapel of the Croce di Pozza, literally the Pozza Cross, and a little further down, the farms of Upper Pozza. Opposite rises the other side of the valley with the reddish-brown Forcella Sarentina ridge. Its mighty, almost vertical porphyry walls drop down towards the Val Sarentino - a truly impressive sight.
From the Pozza Cross, a pilgrimage site, a hiking trail leads through secluded woodland paths up to the Stallner Wände viewpoint. Those who prefer to walk downhill can follow the old pilgrimage route to Sarentino village and enjoy the amenities of a larger village in the main town.
In winter, snowshoe hikers explore the area. The Reinswald Skiing Area in the Valdurna Valley, a side valley, is also only a half-hour drive away from Pozza (Putzen).
