Thanks to the Rasciesa Funicular and a short walk through the snow, you can easily reach the starting point of one of the longest sledge runs in South Tyrol

The Rasciesa high plateau above Ortisei in the Val Gardena valley (St. Ulrich in Gröden) forms the border between the Val Gardena and the Val di Funes valleys. It is probably one of the most impressive places in South Tyrol, from where you can see many peaks of the Dolomites, such as the nearby Sella Group and the Sassolungo Group.
Both in summer and in winter you can experience unique impressions here and admire what Mother Nature has to offer. We experience the Rasciesa in the winter time, where it has something very special to offer: the descent by sledge down into the valley. The funicular in Ortisei takes us up to the mountain station (Attention: The ascent on foot along the sledge run is not allowed!).
From the mountain station we walk along trail no. 35 to the Rasciesa Mountain Hut (Raschötzhütte) in a short time and with a slight difference in altitude. From there you can reach the summit of Mt. Rasciesa di Fuori (Ausserraschötz), where the Seurasass Crucifix is located, in another 15 minutes and then descend to the Chapel of the Holy Cross. From the Rasciesa Mountain Hut, the sledge run descends into the valley. It is one of the toboggan runs of the valley.
