The Ultimo Farm Trail is also suitable for a nice walk in winter: We hike along the section from Pracupola to San Nicolò through the snowy valley landscape

The night before our winter hike brought a few centimetres of fresh snow and enchanted the Val d'Ultimo valley, as so often in the cold season, into a true winter wonderland. Our hike proceeds on the sunny side of the Val d'Ultimo valley and starts in Pracupola (Kuppelwies), at the parking space of the Schwemmalm Cable Car which takes winter sports enthusiasts to the skiing area.
We follow the singpost "Ultner Höfeweg" (Ultimo Farm Trail) which leads us directly to the first farm houses at the northern slope of the valley. The path continues past numerous farmsteads, across meadows and partly through the forest. The next stop is San Nicolò, where also the Ultimo Valley Museum is located which illustrates the farming way of life in the valley.
Passing the St. Nicholas Church, the path leads up to the forest and further to the Lahnersäge National Park House, below Santa Gertrude. But we won't get there today, because at the farms of Gasteig the way is interrupted (and shortly afterwards cleared again). From there we walk back along the same route to Pracupola and enjoy the beauty of the winter landscape a second time.
