South Tyrol's toboggan runs are spread all over South Tyrol, from the village of Resia in the west to Sesto in the east. Some of them are located in skiing areas in South Tyrol and therefore comfortably reachable by cable cars, whereas others can be best combined with a hike through the winter wonderland of the Dolomites. Many mountain huts are open also during winter and invite to a hot drink, tyical desserts and South Tyrolean Speck, or offer even a toboggan rental.
To ensure safety, you should follow a few simple rules: ascend in a row and follow the inner curves of the toboggan run in order to keep clear the run for descending tobogganists, practise braking before the toboggan ride, and leave the toboggan run immediately in case of an accident. The right equipment includes warm clothing, sturdy shoes and ski goggles as well as a headlamp. Helmets are mandatory up to 18 years! Also full moon tobogganing enjoys great popularity: At full moon and clear sky the route is lit by natural light and offers a magical experience in South Tyrol.
