The Lyfi Mountain Hut (2,170 m a.s.l.) is considered a classical destination for snow-shoe tours in the Upper Val Martello

We start our tour at the parking space at the head of the valley in Martello di Dentro, underneath the Gentian tavern (Gasthof Enzian) the path branches off to the Genziana Mountain Hut (Enzianalm, path no. 8). We follow this path, leading past the former venue of the Christmas Market of the Val Martello (takes no longer place) and traverse the Rio Valle Peder river.
This is where on the left the path no. 39 starts to the Peder-Stieralm Hut. Now it's high time to wear our snow-shoes, as the path is rather steep and not beaten. It is a rather rough ascent, but after 300 m of altitude in one go we reach the highest point of the tour, the Peder-Stieralm at 2,250 m a.s.l. in the Stelvio National Park. We continue on path no. 35 towards the Lyfi Hut.
The clearings in the forest make us admire the peaks of the Ortles Alps in the rear Val Martello valley and make us enjoy this rather easy section. At the mountain hut we stop for a drink, for the way back we take the forest trail no. 8, on which we reach the parking space without further efforts. You can also reach the Lyfi or Livi Mountain Hut (Lyfi Alm) via the forest path no. 8.
