Starting point for our snowshoe tour is the parking space (1,365 m a.s.l.) at the ski lift at the Mendola Pass, which can be reached either via the Mendola Pass road or by a ride with the Mendola Funicular departing from Sant'Antonio in Caldaro. From here we follow the toboggan run no. 500 towards the Mezzavia Mountain Hut (1,580 m a.s.l., Halbweghütte), which is reached after about one hour of walking. After a snack we continue, always on path no. 500.
At a small chapel and the Romeno Mountain Hut (Roen Alm, 1,767 m a.s.l.) the path no. 560 branches off. We follow the course of this path for about 20 minutes and finally we reach our hiking destination, the Oltradige al Roen Mountain Hut at 1,761 m a.s.l. (Überetscher Hütte).
From here you can enjoy a great view of the Bassa Atesina area. For returning, we take the same way, from the Mezzavia Hut you can also toboggan down the path, but you need to take your own sledges (approx. 20 minutes). The Oltradige Mountain Hut is impressively located at the foot of Mt. Roen in the Mendola Ridge in the Nonsberg Group. Its eastern rock face consists of dolomite rock.
