Dominik Paris’ home skiing area: The Schwemmalm boasts the challenging Mutegg slope and magnificent panoramic views

Located at 2,600 metres, the Schwemmalm in the Val d'Ultimo valley is becoming increasingly popular with winter sports enthusiasts. The magnificent panorama on the Ortles Alps certainly contributes to its appeal. The valley station of the cable car is in Pracupola (Kuppelwies), offering ample parking right next to two dining options: M13 and Café Seawies. You'll find them on the right side of the road. The cross-country ski trail and ice rink are on the left.
Of the 25 kilometres of slopes, the Mutegg, starting at the highest point, is the steepest, while the Asmol slope, at almost 5 kilometres, offers the longest descent. The ski area is known for its traditional huts and family-friendly atmosphere. The Schwemmalm Ski School's Bärenhöhle ski kindergarten offers childcare. There's also the "Schwemmy Kinderwelt" children's area next to the valley station. The 2024/25 ski season brings some new additions: the Schwemmeregg Lift, a 6-seater chairlift with weather protection bubble, the new slope on the Mutegg, and a freeride route.
One of the gondolas is named after ski star Dominik Paris, who hails from Pracupola and took his first turns here. Other well-known names also enjoy using the Schwemmalm as a training location: Lindsey Vonn, Giulia Mancuso, and Aksel Lund Svindal have prepared for their seasons here. The Moscha luge track with a 22.5% gradient and the Val d'Ultimo cross-country ski track round off the winter offerings. The Schwemmalm Ultimo Ski Area is part of the Ortler Skiarena.
