"Swimming pool Karl Dibiasi" is the name of the indoor swimming pool in the Via Trieste road at the edge of the quarter of Europa-Novacella in Bolzano, which is dedicated to the Bolzano high diver Karl "Carlo" Dibiasi (1909-1984), a pioneer of this sport. He took part in the Olympic Games in 1936 and founded the diving school in Bolzano in the 1960s. His son, Klaus Dibiasi, born in 1947, is until today the only Italian Olympic champion in high diving. Swimming and diving competitions still take place here, and in between it is a popular place for leisure activities. In addition to the Olympic pool, you can find a 10-metre tower, a children's pool and a long water slide that starts on the 2nd floor and then ends in the pool. There is also a snack bar with tables.
The relax centre features a Finnish sauna, infrared sauna, steam bath, hot tub, solarium and a Kneipp basin. In summer, the open-air pool, known as the Lido Bolzano, opens. Various pools and a beach volleyball court gather around a huge sunbathing lawn with two kiosks serving snacks and ice cream. Music evenings are organised here as well as swimming courses. In high summer, the Bolzano City Library comes to the pool and offers books and magazines to lend. The indoor pool is then still open in bad weather, so that swimming fun is guaranteed all summer long.
