Return to the age of knights and damsels - the South Tyrolean Knight Games in August are a real Val Venosta adventure
Every year in mid-August, adults and children have the possibility to experience a special event beneath Coira Castle in Sluderno: For almost two decades now, every year again knights, variets and damsels come back to life and show you how they used to pass their time. Fireplaces, wooden tubs used as bathtubs, fortune tellers and manufacturers, as well as spectacular tournaments and flight shows with owls and hawks cast a spell over every visitor.
The Medieval Knight Games are inaugurated the first day with a big parade with all participants and their horses, and every evening is closed with a night show. The medieval market has also got much to offer, and the knights' camp offers an interesting insight into the life at those times.
The three days of the Medieval Knight Games South Tyrol are always well-attended, and tickets for three days are much more convenient in advance sale. The entrance fee includes also the children's programme with pony or camel riding and the medieval kids' park with hay hopping. At the market booths you may try butter beer and sweets, meat specialities and the sweet Strauben. A tip: Don't forget sun protection as there is no much shade!
