Every year on Easter Monday, an international giant slalom is held in the Belpiano Ski Area in the Val Venosta valley
Easter Monday is a festive day and a day on which highlights are often organised. In Merano it is the famous Haflinger Gallop Races, in the Val Venosta valley the International Giant Slalom, or Internationales Dreiländerrennen in German. These are the last days of the season when the Belpiano Ski Area above Resia is open - a few years ago it merged with the Malga San Valentino to form the Belpiano-Malga San Valentino Skiing Area. The International Three-Country Race is a worthy finale to the last few days on the slopes before spring also reaches these heights.
Several hundred participants start on Easter Monday at the Belpiano mountain station on two race courses and in numerous categories, so that everyone can take part. They are called Super Baby, Student, Master, Elite and Senior, among others. The award ceremony takes place about one hour after the end of the race. The race is organised by the ASV Oberland: It was formed a few years ago through the merger of the SC Haid, ASC Reschen and ASC Weisskugel sports clubs.
