The oldest village festival in the country, the popular Egna Street Festival, takes place under the historic arcades of Egna
More than 50 years ago, Egna organised a true folk festival under its arcades for the first time. The arches, which normally invite you to shop and drink coffee and provide welcome shade in summer, become a fairground on three days in August. Numerous associations such as the Schuhplattler and various music bands provide a culinary and entertaining experience in the idyllic centre of Egna (Neumarkt). The festival weekend starts with the evening parade on Friday.
On the following day, there is a parade through Egna with the tapping of a barrel on the village square, followed by live bands playing on the village square, church square and under the arcades. On Sunday, there will be a morning pint and the traditional balloon flight. Of course, there will also be a children's programme on all three days to ensure that the Egna Street Festival, called Laubenfest Neumarkt in German, is an event for the whole family.
