During Advent, South Tyrol attracts visitors with numerous small Christmas Markets, each lending a special charm to its village. The Forst Brewery near Merano, the largest in South Tyrol, also creates a festive atmosphere in the run-up to Christmas. Nestled among the buildings and restaurants of the brewery complex in Foresta, the southernmost district of Lagundo, cosy fires crackle, inviting fur-covered armchairs offer a place to relax, and you can enjoy culinary delights.
The Christmas Forest consists of the festively illuminated Forst Pavilion with its glass huts, the historic Sixtus Hall, a heated tent village, the Braustüberl pub, and the Schutzhütte hut. The wooden huts offer South Tyrolean specialities. At the colourful stalls, you'll find souvenirs and culinary treats, as well as farm products, such as mountain cheese, jams, and wood and felt crafts. For younger visitors, St. Nicholas and the Krampus will be making an appearance.
A varied programme of cabaret and an ice rink provides entertainment for the whole family. To complement the atmosphere, there's a limited-edition Forst Christmas Beer each year, a South Tyrolean beer with a mild malt aroma. The Forst Christmas Forest (Forster Weihnachtswald) opens on November 20, making it one of the first Christmas Markets to open in South Tyrol. It's open Wednesday to Sunday until Christmas, and daily from December 25 to January 6.
