In the historic village square of Castelrotto you will be spoilt with traditional South Tyrolean cuisine and Christmas music
The Christmas season at the foot of Mount Sciliar is celebrated in a contemplative way: The Castelrotto Christmas Market is small and fine, the wooden stalls offer local products such as home-knitted Sarner - the traditional woollen jackets - and socks, nativity figures and gift ideas. Typical specialities include mulled wine and apple mulled mix as well as Christmas Stollen and South Tyrolean Zelten with its mixture of dough, nuts, dried fruit and honey.
Or have you already tried the homemade "Kastelruther Krapfen"? The filling usually consists of dried pears, plum jam and cinnamon, the dough of cream, milk, butter, eggs and flour.
There is also atmospheric music from brass groups, choirs and Christmas singers. The "Kastelruther Bergweihnacht" (Castelrotto Mountain Christmas) takes place on the weekends during Advent, and there is a unique highlight waiting for you: the Christmas concert of the "Kastelruther Spatzen", the famous local folk music band, in the tennis hall in Telfen in mid-December. The Castelrotto Mountain Christmas will then close its doors at the end of December and wishes everyone a few more wonderful days to bring the year to a proper end.
