The historic walls of Tyrol Castle in the Merano region provide the worthy setting for the “Castle Tyrol Advent” every year

On a few selected days in December, the majestic Castle Tyrol is transformed into a Christmas wonderland. Where for most of the year visitors admire the treasures in the South Tyrolean Museum of Culture and Provincial History and next door watch eagles and owls in flight at the bird care centre, December is all about craftsmen, music and cosy hours.
The "Tiroler Schlossadvent" (Advent in Tyrol Castle) impresses young visitors with a children's programme and carriage rides for the whole family along the Castle Path, while adults can enjoy traditional handicrafts and music performances. You will be spoilt with the culinary delights on offer in the inner courtyard. Handmade nativity scenes are presented in the castle chapel.
A free shuttle service also takes you from Merano - bus stop at the thermal baths - to Tirolo village. From there, a walk on the Castle Path leads directly to the ancient walls.
